ODI series: Litton Das, a wicketkeeper-batsman for Bangladesh, has been named the team’s captain for the forthcoming three-match ODI series against India. The choice was made after it became known that Tamim Iqbal’s groyne injury had forced him out of the thrilling match. Only once has Das captained Bangladesh, during a T20I match against New Zealand when Mahmadullah was injured.
But he has been a member of the leadership team for a while, and when Shakib Al Hasan took over, he was named vice-captain of the Test. Jalal Yunus, the chairman of the BCB Cricket Operation, praised Litton Das’ abilities and expressed disappointment that Tamim Iqbal was unable to participate.
“Litton is one of the more seasoned players on the team and has proven to be a leader. He is a good game reader and has a smart cricketing mentality. It is extremely unfortunate that Tamim will miss this crucial series due to injury, especially considering that the team has played some outstanding cricket under his captaincy in recent years and that he has been our most productive batsman in this format.
Taskin Ahmed, Bangladesh’s star pacer, has been ruled out of the first game of this series due to injury.
The first ODI is scheduled for Sunday.
In the meantime, the opening ODI of the three-match series will take place on Sunday (December 4). After taking a break for the tour of New Zealand, which took place shortly after the T20 World Cup in Australia, players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul are expected to resume their playing careers.
