Women’s Ashes: After a brilliant century in a warm-up match against England A, Australia women’s batter Beth Mooney will open for her country in the 2023 Women’s Ashes Test. On Thursday, June 15, the 29-year-old hit 107 from 133 balls as Australia were all out for 284 and England were 135/2 at stumps on Day 1.
Australia will travel to England in June and July 2023 to compete in the Women’s Ashes. From June 22 to July 18, the tour will include a single Women’s Test match, three Women’s T20Is, and three Women’s ODIs.
With Meg Lanning left out due to sickness and Rachael Haynes retiring since their last red-ball match, Australia provided their best indication yet of their one-off Test at Trent Bridge in Nottingham, which begins on June 22. Alyssa Healy of Australia slid to No. 5 after stating that she did not want to shoulder the load of both wicketkeeping and opening.
However, because Healy and Haynes opened in Australia’s last Test, Phoebe Litchfield and Mooney were urged to open in the one-off Test. Litchfield was out for 19 but is still expected to make his Test debut at the top of the order next week.
Mooney, on the other hand, was unconcerned about the one-off Test against England. Prior to her retirement, Haynes had previously opened in the game’s longest format, although she has mostly batted at No. 3 or in the middle order.
Mooney is hoping to do well in the one-off Test against England Women.
Mooney added that she expects to do well in the one-off Test, which begins next week. According to the 29-year-old, it’s wonderful to hit a few off the middle of the first few days in England. She went on to say that Kim Garthe has made an important contribution to our team off the pitch, and it’s fantastic to see her get some playing time.
“I seem to do that in warm-up games but not in the real thing. I’ll try again next week. It’s wonderful to hit a few off the centre the first few days in England. Kimmy G is a ripper; she has made significant contributions to our club off the pitch, and it’s great to see her receive some playing time. She’s a real threat to England’s top order, so it’s great to see her get a couple in this game,” Mooney said, according to ESPNCricinfo.
