Cricket News: According to sources, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will meet in an executive session on December 21. The players’ yearly central contracts and the creation of a new selection committee are listed as the main topics for discussion in the reports.
In addition to these two topics, a significant conversation about split captaincy and employing different coaches for the three versions is anticipated. Hardik Pandya, India’s premier all-rounder, may or may not be named the team’s permanent T20I captain with an eye on the T20 World Cup in 2024.
BCCI dissatisfied with support staff performance
According to insiders, the BCCI is dissatisfied with the work of the fielding coach T Dilip and the physio team for the Indian squad, and as a result, there may be changes in the support staff moving forward.
Meanwhile, there are rumours of discussions concerning divided coaching. The cricket board is apparently looking to employ a new T20I coach in the wake of India’s elimination from the T20 World Cup 2022 after a humiliating ten-wicket loss to the eventual champions England in the semis last month, even though Rahul Dravid may continue as the Test and ODI coach.
There were earlier rumours that the BCCI had chosen MS Dhoni to be Team India’s full-time T20I coach in preparation for the 2024 T20 World Cup, which will be held in the Caribbean and the USA.
The sources have still continued to state that India’s performance evaluation in light of the T20 World Cup in Australia and the most recent 1-2 ODI series loss in Bangladesh is not currently on the table.
Notably, the Men in Blue have dropped their last two ODI series in a row. Prior to the Bangladesh series, India had previously lost a rain-shortened ODI series 0-1 in New Zealand.
