Cricket News: So far, Team India has been the superior side in the ongoing Test against England at Edgbaston, with the tourists extending their lead to over 350 runs in their second innings. Rishabh Pant has been the driving force behind the Indian unit’s outstanding performance. With his counterattacking approach, the wicketkeeper-batter took the momentum away from the hosts, and it will be interesting to see if England can fight their way back into the game.
In terms of Pant, the wicketkeeper-batter was chastised during India’s recent white-ball series against South Africa. However, the 24-year-old produced an outstanding knock in difficult conditions, becoming the first Indian wicketkeeper-batter since Farokh Engineer to score a century and a fifty in the same Test match. Engineer had done it against England in 1973 at Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium.
Rishabh Pant scored 146 off 111 balls in the first innings and went on to pile up 57 off 86 deliveries in the second before being caught by Jack Leach. With this, he became the second wicketkeeper-batter, after Dhoni, to score 50 or more runs in both innings of a Test match at the venue. The former India captain did the same thing over a decade ago, scoring 77 and 74* in a Test match that India lost by an innings and 242 runs.
This test match belongs to Rishabh pant. 200 runs in the most important test match of the series and that too came at a time when team India was under the pump. #mesmirising

He also became the fourth Indian wicketkeeper to score 50 or more in both innings of a Test match. Dilawar Hussain, Farokh Engineer, Dhoni, and Wriddhiman Saha are among those on the list.
Apart from Pant, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja also performed admirably in his first official match since returning from injury. The left-handed batter scored 104 off 194 deliveries in the first innings as India recovered from 98/5 to post a massive 416 all-out total.
In response, England were bowled out for 284 runs, with Jonny Bairstow smashing a century. Before lunch on Day 4, India was batting at 229/7 in their second innings.
