Chris Gayle is a well-known cricketer. While he has excelled in every version of the game, his records in T20 world cup cricket are unrivalled. He has the most runs and the most hundreds, and he is still going strong in several franchise-based competitions and international cricket.
The Jamaican legend has been named to the West Indies squad for the T20 World Cup. While the Men in Maroon are the defending champions and the only team to win the championship more than once, they are currently playing a warm-up match against Pakistan before the Super 12 stage begins.
Gayle batted first, returning to his usual opening position after playing at number three in the IPL 2021. The towering left-handed Gayle began to play more balls from the middle of his bat and was less interested in scoring runs quickly. While he was scoring at an uncommon rate during the match, when the camera showed a close-up of Gayle between overs, it was plain that he was wearing gears with the self-proclaimed name “The Boss” printed on his pad.

Previously, the West Indian star had expressed his displeasure with another West Indian icon, Curtly Ambrose, after the former pacer stated that he would not select Gayle in his starting XI for the Windies.
“I’m referring to Curtly Ambrose. Curtly Ambrose, one of your own, comes to mind. When I first joined the West Indies team, I had a lot of respect for him “Gayle told The Island Tea Morning Show, a St Kitts radio programme, on Tuesday.
“I looked up to this man when I first joined the squad. But now I’m speaking from the bottom of my heart. I’m not sure what he had against Chris Gayle since he retired. I’m not sure if he’s wanting attention with the terrible things he’s been saying in the news, but he’s getting it. So I’m just giving him the attention he requires and deserves “He continued.
“I can tell you personally, and you can tell him, that Chris Gayle, the Universe Boss, has zero respect for Curtly Ambrose,” he added.
On October 23, the West Indies will face England in a rematch of the 2016 T20 World Cup final in their first Super 12 encounter.
