After the recent ICC T20 World Cup 2022 campaign in Australia for the Men in Blue, batting superstar Virat Kohli has returned to India. The Indians had a respectable season that came to an end in the semifinals after they suffered a demoralising 10-wicket loss to England in Adelaide a few days ago.
India managed to set a difficult target of 169 thanks to half-centuries from Kohli and Hardik Pandya, but it was insufficient as England attacked from the first ball. Jos Buttler and Alex Hales’ unbroken 170-run opening stand ultimately eliminated India from the tournament with a good four overs remaining.

In his own right, Kohli had a brilliant T20 World Cup season, scoring four half-centuries in his final 296 runs from six innings. In addition, he became the first player to score more than 4,000 T20I runs. He accomplished this during the semifinal match versus England.
He scored 50 runs off of 40 pitches in the crucial game, joining forces with Hardik Pandya for a 61-run partnership after India was in trouble at 75/3 after losing their top order early—including the in-form Suryakumar Yadav.
Virat Kohli, meanwhile, is one of the candidates for this year’s Player of the Tournament award due to his exceptional batting displays, including the one in a tense final-ball victory in the opening Super 12 match against Pakistan in Melbourne where he scored an unbeaten 82 runs off 53 balls.
Along with other experienced players like Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, Kohli was rested for the forthcoming away white-ball series in New Zealand. With Rahul Dravid taking a break for the tour, the Indian team will be captained by Hardik Pandya in the T20Is. NCA chief VVS Laxman will serve as the team’s head coach.
