GT vs MI: Noor Ahmad, an 18-year-old fellow countryman, received high accolades from Rashid Khan for his remarkable performance during the Gujarat Titans (GT) vs. Mumbai Indians (MI) IPL 2023 match on Tuesday, April 25 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The defending champions put up a professional display to defeat MI by 55 runs and earn their fifth IPL victory of the year. On the other hand, MI has now dropped four of its seven games this year.
In the game against MI, Noor claimed a three-wicket haul by removing Cameron Green, Suryakumar Yadav, and Tim David. In his first IPL season, the 18-year-old spinner has taken six wickets from three games. Notably, the young man competed in his first T20I game against Zimbabwe in June 2022.
The teenager’s performance impressed Afghanistan’s standout Rashid Khan, who said it was good to have him on the team and bowl alongside him. The 24-year-old all-rounder continued by saying that Noor is working really hard and that his main goal is to continually learn.
“Having him on the team and participating in this bowling partnership with him is fantastic. That young child only wants to learn, he is working so hard,” Rashid was quoted by The Daily Star as stating.
Now that he has the chance, Noor is delivering: Rashid
The left-arm spinner’s efforts to advance since joining GT last year, despite the fact that he did not play last season, particularly impressed Rashid. He asserted that Noor frequently bowled in the nets and was inquisitive. He said he is happy that his efforts have finally been noticed and that it is a significant victory for both GT and Afghanistan.
He frequently bowled in the nets while asking questions. He would stop by and say, “Let’s bowl here in the gym, when I was in the gym late at night. He was bowling with me in the gym even at 1 or 2 in the morning. He wanted to perform and improve so badly. He recently received the chance, and he is taking it. I’m overjoyed for him. It’s fantastic news for GT and Afghanistan as well,” the 24-year-old continued.
