IPL 2023: Fans of Samson are swooning over a video of him practising at the centre wicket.
The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League, which will finally begin on March 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad with the defending champion Gujarat Titans set to face the four-time champion Chennai Super Kings, has already begun the countdown to what is arguably the biggest domestic T20 carnival.
Players from all eleven clubs have begun to work extremely hard in preparation for the start of the season, and Sanju Samson, the captain of the Rajasthan Royals, is no exception. Fans of Samson are swooning over a video of him practising at the centre wicket.
The Royals captain can be seen practising his power hitting and destroying the bowlers in the video. Samson can be seen sending the left-arm spinner away over covers while opening up the off side. Also, he scooped a few over fine leg and made a few shots that were easily placed down the ground.
When India hosted Sri Lanka for a three-match T20I series in January, Samson was last spotted wearing the Indian uniform. He participated in the opening T20I before a knee ailment forced him to withdraw from the team. In the previous IPL season, he was outstanding for the Royals as a leader and as a batter.
Last season, Samson guided his side to the competition’s final, but the Royals fell to the Gujarat Titans, a club making their competition debut.
In the IPL 2022, Samson amassed 458 runs over 17 games with an astounding strike rate of 146.79, including two half-centuries and one unbeaten performance. Even more astounding are his total IPL stats, where he has 3526 runs scored in 138 games for a strike rate of 135.72. Throughout the competition so far, he has struck three centuries and 17 half-centuries.
