ILT20 League: Joe Root, a former England Test captain, has joined the Dubai Capitals for the International T20 League’s debut season. The 31-year-old joined the franchise to try his luck as an all-format player once more after taking a long break from franchise cricket in order to regain his limited-overs mojo again.
The middle-order batsman is currently absent from England’s T20 lineup but hopes to return soon. Root has also signed up for the forthcoming IPL 2023 mini-auction when he will be auctioned off for a starting bid of INR 1 crore.
Following Root’s agreement with their sister team, it is anticipated that Delhi Capitals will express interest in him as well and offer him his first deal in the lucrative league. The auction is slated for December 23 in Kochi, and because Root has registered for the first time in a long time, all eyes will be on him.
