Chattogram Test: KL Rahul’s group In the first of the two Test matches in Chattogram, India and Bangladesh have clashed. In the red-ball match against the Bangla Tigers, India won the toss and chose to bat first.
Kuldeep Yadav, a left-arm wrist-spinner, was an intriguing addition made by India for the opening Test match as the starting XI was declared. Since Kuldeep, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Axar Patel are all involved in the match, the management and acting captain KL Rahul made the decision to field three spinners.
The wrist-spinner last played for his country in a red-ball match against England in 2021 at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium, when he claimed two wickets in each of the two innings. He also participated in the third one-day international against the Tigers, where he took a wicket during India’s resounding 227-run victory.
Kuldeep has already played in eight games for the team, including the current Test match in Chattogram against Bangladesh. It’s interesting to note that the cricketer from Uttar Pradesh celebrates his birthday on December 14, the day of his comeback to the Test team against Bangladesh. His comeback to the Test squad was well received by the public, and the BCCI selected him in the starting XI for the opening red-ball match.
Speaking about the game, in their 11 attempts, Bangladesh has never defeated India in the sport’s longest format. With two games ending in draws, Team India has won nine games overall. Additionally, the match between the two teams is crucial, particularly for team India, which is still vying for a berth in the ICC World Test Championship summit match. KL Rahul and company will therefore be striving for favourable outcomes in the two-match Test series.
India’s first innings performance is awful.
In the meantime, India’s first innings struggled after choosing to bat. Shubman Gill and KL Rahul, the two openers, missed their opportunities, and Virat Kohli was taken aback when Taijul Islam’s delivery swung a mile to catch him right in front of the stumps. India will be counting on the middle-order duo of Rishabh Pant and Cheteshwar Pujara to rebuild the innings.
Happy to see Kuldeep Yadav in whites. #BANvIND
