Live Cricket News: The ongoing Test between India and England at Edgbaston has seen the visitors dominate for the most part, with a commanding 257-run lead in the second innings. However, this was not the case on the first day, as the Indian top-order crumbled in front of England’s pacers, and India were reduced to 98/5 in their first innings at one point. However, a solid 222-run partnership for the sixth wicket between Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja brought India back into the game, and it has been mostly one-way traffic since then.
Rishabh Pant, known for his daring approach, rose to the occasion with a solid counter-attacking knock, scoring 146 runs in just 111 balls. Jadeja, on the other hand, was a perfect second fiddle to Pant and, following his dismissal, took charge and helped India pile up a staggering 416/10 in their first inning. Jadeja also completed his tonne before being dismissed by James Anderson for 104 (194), which included 13 fours.
Soon after their respective knocks, both cricketers received widespread acclaim, and the latest to join the bandwagon is South Africa’s AB de Villiers. In a tweet, the ex-cricketer informed his fans that he hasn’t been able to watch much cricket recently, but he did manage to watch the highlights of the ongoing India-England Test with the little time he had.
When asked about the match, De Villiers said the “counterattack partnership” between Jadeja and Pant was among the best he had seen in the red-ball format.
“Haven’t been home and missed most of the Cricket action. Finished watching the highlights now. That counterattack partnership from @RishabhPant17 and @imjadeja is right up there with the best I’ve ever seen in Test Cricket!” the former South Africa cricketer tweeted.
