Live Cricket News: Ramiz Raja, a former cricketer who was fired from his position as chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, has been in the news for his criticism of Najam Sethi, the new chairman, ever since. He has asked the 74-year-old about his new initiatives and accused him of using favouritism and nepotism in Pakistani cricket.
The 60-year-old attacked Sethi in a recent interview with Pakistani TV station Geo Super and provided a brief explanation of the circumstances for his abrupt departure. He claimed that the sport is not given enough priority by the new management, and if this continues, the future may be quite bleak.
Raja warned repeatedly that things would get extremely bad if people didn’t show proper respect for this wonderful sport. Not letting a system function properly and then using politics and nepotism to govern the nation’s cricket is wrong. First, we must ascertain whether or not there is law and order. You altered the constitution only for fun—perhaps to instal a supporter of yours.”
“In cricket, what use does a non-cricketer serve? The discussion should centre on this. This is our field, and we know what to do. We don’t require crutches to manage cricket the way this administration does,” he added.
No large team came to visit us before but that has changed: Ramiz Raja
Ramiz Raja didn’t hesitate to congratulate himself as he listed all the triumphs the Pakistan squad had accomplished under his leadership. The former opener recalled that, in contrast to prior times, he was successful in persuading several teams to travel to Pakistan and play games there.
“Pakistan had the third-best winning percentage in the world, at almost 60 per cent. With regard to fan engagement, we were able to break previous marks. Pakistan cricket enjoyed a brilliant year during that time. Prior to this, there was never a large crew that came to visit. There were some really outstanding performances. We are regarded as one of the best white-ball cricket teams,” said the previous chairman.
