Black Caps: Neil Wagner, a bowler for New Zealand, has issued a statement saying that his time playing Test cricket is not done. Following the fast-horrific bowler’s injuries in the first Test between New Zealand and Sri Lanka, rumours regarding a potential break in his career or, worst yet, a termination surfaced.
In response, he noted that during his entire career, people had written him off and that was not something he wanted to pay attention to. He also claimed that he had been proving people incorrect all throughout his career.
“Individuals might make predictions and other claims, but I’ve built a profession out of disproving them. Without a doubt, it’s not the end of me. After my first test, a lot of people predicted that it may be the last of me. When they don’t pick me again, I guess that’s when I’ll probably call it quits,” Wagner said.
Earlier, Wagner’s bulging disc in his back and damaged right hamstring forced him to withdraw from the second Test against Sri Lanka. His injuries are expected to take roughly six weeks to heal.
“The three overs were the loosest I’ve felt, which is quite annoying,” he said about his ailment. He explained his condition, “With the previous exams, you constantly deal with a little stiffness, soreness, or pain and whatever you’ve had to get through.”
“The tremendous shock, which he described as feeling like a sniper had grabbed him, originated in the disc nerve and spread throughout the rest of his body as well as down his leg into his foot.”
He was a key contributor to New Zealand’s two-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the opening Test at Hagley Oval. He bravely returned to the plate after being removed for medical reasons after being injured and steadfastly held his ground to the very end, scoring the winning run neatly to give his team a crucial victory.
