Samson was initially removed from the game by Deshpande, who bowled an off-cutter that the RR captain misread and hit straight to Ruturaj Gaikwad at long-on. Later in the over, well-positioned Jaiswal, who was heading towards his first IPL hundred, hit him for four on the offside.
The southpaw ultimately top-edged to Ajinkya Rahane at Point after the right-arm seamer bowled a slower off-cutter for the second time. Jaiswal’s outstanding 77 off 43 balls, which included eight fours and four sixes, was cut short by the catch.
In the first innings, Dhruv Jurel and Devdutt Padikkal lead RR to 202/5.
Deshpande, meanwhile, helped CSK get back into the game by taking two significant wickets for his team while only allowing seven runs in his over. Maheesh Theekshana removed the dangerous Shimron Hetmyer from the attack in the 17th over for Chennai, leaving Rajasthan at 146/4 after 16.1 overs.
The happiness, however, was short-lived as RR’s innings was perfectly finished by Dhruv Jurel (34 off 15) and Devdutt Padikkal (23* off 13), bringing them to 202/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Deshpande, who took 2/42 in four overs, was the bowler of choice for CSK, while Theekshana (1/24) and Ravindra Jadeja (1/32) each claimed one wicket.
