Test Cricket: Salman Butt, a former cricketer for Pakistan, believes that India’s flashy Suryakumar Yadav will succeed in Test cricket given his remarkable performance in the white-ball format. Many people have been amazed by Suryakumar’s batting abilities, particularly with the kind of form he has kept up in the shortest format.
Suryakumar, who scored 1164 runs in 31 innings in 2022, including two centuries and nine half-centuries, is now the top batter in Twenty20 internationals. The hitter has yet to play in a Test match despite his outstanding performance in white-ball cricket. Butt predicted that Suryakumar will succeed in red-ball cricket by making small adjustments to his approach.
“Suryakumar Yadav has extensive knowledge of domestic cricket. He appears to be highly familiar with the extended format. He needs to be conscious that red-ball cricket will need him to adjust.” In a video on his YouTube channel, Butt advised changing up your shot selection and concentrating on playing to your strengths.
“His outstanding performance in white-ball cricket has given him a significant boost in confidence. He will benefit from that when he participates in Test matches. He has played first-class cricket for almost ten years, which is impressive for a player of his calibre,” Butt continued.
Salman Butt: He thinks really quickly and is quite intelligent
In two Ranji Trophy games for Mumbai in 2023, the daring right-hander scored 233 runs at an average of 74.33 across three innings. Butt went on to say that Suryakumar would have no trouble adjusting to the longer format.
“Someone is undoubtedly very intelligent and quick-witted if they succeed in such a top-notch manner in international cricket. It won’t be too difficult for him, in my opinion,” Butt came to an end.
It’s important to note that the top hitter might play his long-awaited first Test against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in February. He is one of the athletes named to the lineup for the first two Tests of the four-game series, which get underway on February 9.
