Women’s Premier League: The Women’s Premier League’s inaugural season’s dates have been confirmed by BCCI, and all five franchises have been informed of them.
All five clubs have been informed of the dates for the Women’s Premier League’s debut season, which have been verified by BCCI.
From March 4 to March 26, there will be games in the Women’s Premier League. The first season would only be played at Brabourne Stadium and D.Y. Patil Stadium in Mumbai, according to the BCCI. The five WPL teams received an email on February 6 with all these important data.
Every cricket fan in the globe is buzzing about the upcoming Women’s Premier League and the new revolution in women’s cricket. The WPL has already attracted notice for becoming the most lucrative tournament in women’s cricket based on the revenue from the purchase of broadcast and franchise ownership rights.
On January 16, 2023, the BCCI declared that it has paid INR 951 crore to Viacom for the WPL media rights for 2023 to 2027. It also sold the five franchises on January 25 for a total of INR 4669.9 crore.
The player auction will take place on February 13 in Mumbai, according to an email from BCCI CEO Hemang Amin. Amin stated that a total of 1500 people had registered and that the final roster would be made available to the public later this week. A maximum of 90 cricketers may be purchased at the auction, with 15 to 18 players per squad.
The Women’s Premier League will begin on March 4, 2023, eight days after the Women’s T20 World Cup, which will end on February 26 in South Africa. To make it easier for players and coaches to travel to India from South Africa, the BCCI decided to limit the initial season to Mumbai.
Additionally, the Women’s T20 World Cup will start on February 10 and end three days after the WPL auction. In order to add the top players to their rosters, the organisations would have their sights set on those games.
