T20 World Cup: On Friday, Mohammad Nabi made the decision to resign as the captain of the Afghanistan men’s cricket team. The seasoned all-rounder promised to continue helping Afghanistan if the administration needs him. Nabi made the declaration after Afghanistan’s T20 World Cup came to an end following a narrow four-run loss to Australia in their final group game at the Adelaide Oval. Nabi also served as the team’s captain during the Asia Cup in September of this year. On social media, Mohammad Nabi made the announcement in a formal statement.
“Greetings, fellow citizens and cricket fans! With a result that neither we nor our supporters were anticipating, our T20 World Cup journey came to an end. We share your frustration with the results of the games. Our team’s preparation from the previous year was not at a level that a captain would expect or need for a significant event. Additionally, in several of the most recent trips, the team administration, the selection committee, and I did not agree, which had an impact on the squad’s balance. Because of this, and with all due respect, I thus declare that I will STEP DOWN as CAPTAIN, while I will still be available to play for my nation as needed by the team and management “stated Nabi.
