The decision is made, 33-year-old Toni Kroos is also under contract with Real Madrid next season. The midfielder is going for his tenth season in the shirt of Los Blancos.
Real Madrid finally gives a definite answer about the future of 33-year-old Kroos
While Real recently had to wave goodbye to a club icon with Karim Benzema, Kroos remains loyal to the Spanish superpower. Although confirmation was a long time coming and the former Germany international had an expiring contract, there was little doubt that his future lay at Estádio Santiago Bernabeu.
The chance that Kroos, like Benzema and various other stars, will choose to phase out in Saudi Arabia, seems small. In his podcast Einfach Mal Luppen, the former Bayern Munich player already announced that he plans to end his career at Real. He says, “The only thing is, I just don’t know when yet.”
Kroos will therefore continue to play football for the time being. The experienced midfielder was still a fixed value in coach Carlo Ancelotti’s team with 52 official matches last season. In total, the counter stands at 417 games for Real Madrid, with which he won the Champions League four times and three national titles.
Joselu signs with Real Madrid
A dream has come true for Joselu: the striker returns to Real Madrid after eleven seasons. He is on loan from Espanyol for one season and is very happy with it.
Joselu also played for Real Madrid from 2011 to 2012. There was no breakthrough then, but now he gets a new chance. “I want to apologise to my wife and children, because this is one of the happiest days of my life,” Joselu laughs at his presentation at the Bernabéu. “When you leave, you always dream of coming back. Today is that day. I am very proud and happy to be given this opportunity.”
Joselu gets number fourteen at Real Madrid. “Every number is important, but getting a number from one to 25 at the best club in the world is something incredible. I will give everything for Real Madrid. It’s the club of my life. I’ve scored goals throughout my career and I hope it stays that way.”
After the departure of Karim Benzema, it became clear that Real Madrid was betting on the arrival of Joselu. “A few days ago we agreed with Real Madrid. I haven’t said anything to my kids and I think my wife still doesn’t believe it, haha,” he revealed.
Joselu ended up at Espanyol via TSG Hoffenheim, Eintracht Frankfurt, Hannover 96, Newcastle United and Alavés, among others. The club’s relegation allowed Joselu to be picked up by Real Madrid on favourable terms.
