Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has lost his privileged duties as an Arsenal captain at Emirates Stadium, the Gunners have announced. Among other heart-breaking football news today, Arsenal have stripped Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of his captaincy status for missing some crucial training.
Arsenal have cited a breach of club discipline as the reason behind their decision. They confirmed they had to evict Aubameyang from the club captain position due to his absence before a big game.
Indeed, Gunners head coach Mikel Arteta dropped the Gabon international for a Premier League meeting with Southampton last time out.
And then, as Goal.com reported, Aubameyang had missed a final pre-game training session. Now, this has cost him not just that Premier League match, but his Arsenal captaincy too.
In fact, unfortunately, it remains to be seen when the 32-year-old striker will even figure for Arsenal again.
This is because the north Londoners have confirmed that he’s not up for selection against West Ham on December 15.

So, Arsenal won’t take Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in consideration for his starting line-up against West Ham after his ‘latest disciplinary breach’.
But as for the long-term consequences, the Gunners forward will no longer wear the captain’s armband for Arsenal.
A statement on Arsenal’s official website reads: “Following his latest disciplinary breach last week, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will no longer be our club captain, and will not be considered for selection for Wednesday’s match against West Ham United.
“We expect all our players, particularly our captain, to work to the rules and standards we have all set and agreed.
“We are fully focused on tomorrow’s match.”
