The person who stormed down after the game between Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal and responsible for Arsenal keeper Aaron Ramsdale’s attack has been arrested and charged, he must appear in court.
A 35-year-old Englishman is suspected of assault after the London derby, which was won by Arsenal. Ramsdale was already treated unfairly with chants during the game. After the final whistle, things went really wrong. The goalkeeper celebrated the victory and wanted to pick up his stuff just behind the goal. A home side supporter stormed into the stands and kicked at the England international.
It resulted in another scuffle behind one of the targets (see video below). Ramsdale himself reacted shocked after the game. “It is very unfortunate that this is happening. In the end, it’s just a football game. Players from both teams tried to take me away and luckily nothing dramatic happened in the end.’ Nevertheless, the 35-year-old man will have to appear on February 17.
Bernd Leno’s disappointment
In other news, former Gunner Bernd Leno has a bad feeling about his departure from Arsenal. According to the German goalkeeper, who switched to Fulham, he was the victim of political games.
Leno lost his starting place to Aaron Ramsdale last season, but was still second choice behind the England international. This summer, during the preparations, that changed. American Matt Turner, who had come over from New England Revolution, was also found to be above Leno in the pecking order. Then something broke in him, he says in conversation with Sport BILD.
“During the preparation I saw that it’s not about performance, it’s all just politics. Then it was clear to me: I have to leave here as soon as possible,” said Leno. According to him, Turner was brought in as the new number two behind Ramsdale because it would have a ‘good effect on the club’s marketing’ in the United States.
As a result, Leno lost his place in the selection. The former number one had to train for himself during the training camp in the US. He added, “It was clear: I was not getting a fair chance, on the contrary. That’s why I now have no problem telling the truth. A good solution has been found for everyone, but I have the right to name what happened.”
