According to Transfermarkt and Diario AS, Real Madrid has the most valuable squad in La Liga, surpassing even rivals Barcelona. In fact, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid’s squads are costlier than Barcelona’s team roster, Barca having a lighter squad now.
This data comes after we revealed the losses that many leading European football giants suffered last season in football news.
Ironically, or rather, understandably, Barcelona topped this list, after having incurred a loss of €481 million.
On the other hand, Real Madrid are the only team on that list who are on the plus side. They have more credit than they have losses, as their turnover for 2020-21 reveals a €1 million credit score.
Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid’s Squads Are Costlier Than Barcelona’s
The total value of head coach Carlo Ancelotti’s roster is €783.5m, despite an 8.4 per cent drop from last season.
Atletico Madrid is at second place behind Real Madrid, with a valuation of €755.2 million.
Meanwhile, Barcelona, who had recent financial difficulties staying within La Liga’s salary cap regulations, come in third in this race. They have a roster that offers a net valuation of €676.5 million.
Barcelona have dropped to third place on this list for the first time since 2010.
This is because their squad’s value has dropped by 23% since last season, which can be attributed to the departures of high-value players such as Lionel Messi (worth €80 million) and Antoine Griezmann (worth €60 million).
Although, Barcelona still own the most valuable player in Spanish football: Dutch playmaker Frenkie de Jong (valued at €90 million).
Next come Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix, Barcelona’s Pedri, and Atletico Madrid’s Marcos Llorente, who are all worth €80 million each.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid’s Casemiro, worth €70 million, is the most expensive player at the Santiago Bernabeu.
