Manchester City’s players celebration was overwhelming after the Champions League final against Internazionale. A large number of players probably got drunk quickly.
Walker vows to get drunk, Grealish blasts Fleetwood Mac through speakers
Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson is walking around without a goatee these days. Shortly after winning the Champions League final against Internazionale, he had his goatee shaved off by a reporter from the Argentinian TNT Sports. Apparently Ederson had made a bet with the reporter on whether Manchester City would win the treble.
Kyle Walker couldn’t wait to celebrate winning the Champions League afterwards and was probably hungover on Sunday morning. So chances are high that Walker got drunk. “Put any drink in front of me, I’ll destroy it,” he told BT Sport.
Jack Grealish probably already had some drinks as he walked through the mixed zone. While the players were being interviewed by the press, Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Everywhere’ suddenly sounded through a large speaker. Turns out it was Grealish who interrupted the interviews – and don’t blame him. Walker went live on Instagram in the locker room.
Haaland: “As if 100 kilos disappeared from my shoulders”
52 goals in all competitions, the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Champions League: Erling Haaland’s season is a fairytale. The Norwegian striker had one sacred goal and that was to win the billion dollar ball.
Manchester City won 1-0 against Internazionale on Saturday evening and can tick off winning the Champions League. “The players learned from the final two years ago, so this team is more experienced now,” Haaland tells CBS Sports. “Just look at the last game in the Premier League, this is purely about experience. Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have won the Champions League many times, as has Inter, so we knew we had to be mentally strong.”
The season is finally over for Haaland. The final result: 52 goals. “I was full of emotion because it was such a long season. It felt like a hundred pounds had lifted off my shoulders. I thought: we really did it and won the treble. After that I cried a lot. I can’t remember the last time I cried so much in my life,” said the striker.
Haaland was invisible as a player of Red Bull Salzburg until he started to score in the Champions League and got a top transfer to Borussia Dortmund. Now he is the best striker in Europe. He concluded, “This shows that anything is possible no matter where you come from. I always dreamed of winning the Champions League. Don’t forget I’m only 22 years old, remember when you were 22. There’s still so much I can learn.”
