Eden Hazard is putting in additional effort to keep fit, according to Belgium manager Roberto Martinez. The Belgium national team coach gives reassurance about Eden Hazard despite his being out of Real Madrid’s normal starting lineup.
This season, Eden Hazard has fallen down the pecking order under coach Carlo Ancelotti, who has favoured Vinicius Junior instead.
Since moving from Stamford Bridge to the Bernabeu in 2019, the former Chelsea winger has battled with form and injury.
As for this season, Hazard has only started four La Liga games so far.
Belgium National Team Coach Gives Reassurance about Eden Hazard
But Belgium’s head coach Roberto Martinez, like Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid (football news) before him, has defended Eden Hazard.
The Belgian national team coach claims that Eden or his injury is not causing concern within the national team.
“It’s an unusual situation. We hoped it wouldn’t go like this,” he told HLN.
Although, Ancelotti continued: “But this is football. I have seen that he is medically well. He is completely in form.”
He further added on the Los Blancos star: “We have a good relationship with Real Madrid. We know that he does extra work to maintain the best form possible.
“Eden wants to do as much as possible to reach his highest level.”
Hazard is the captain of Belgium’s national team, whose coach, Martinez, has called him for the next World Cup qualifiers. Belgium currently lead World Cup Group E by five points, and they have games against Estonia and Wales looming.
Martinez added about his national team and his captain, Eden Hazard: “This international period is a chance to play. It’s not an ideal situation. But it won’t worry us until Eden stops enjoying football. At the moment, it is not the case. I think he can end the season strongly.”
