Tottenham Hotspur can expect an offer soon from Iranian-American billionaire Jahm Najafi. Who is preparing a €3.5 billion bid to take over the club, the Financial Times reports.
The British magazine, highly renowned in the business world, has two sources who are directly involved in Najafi’s plans. Najafi is a successful businessman, chairman of MSP Sports Capital and also owner of the NBA team Phoenix Suns. He is currently working with a consortium of investors on a bid for Tottenham Hotspur.
According to the sources, it could be several weeks before club owner Joe Lewis and chairman Daniel Levy can expect an offer from Najafi. MSP Sports Capital wants to finance 70% of the purchase amount and hopes that the remaining 30% will be supplemented by lenders from the Gulf States. MSP Sports Capital also owns Formula 1 team McLaren.
A possible billion-dollar takeover of Tottenham Hotspur is not unique in the Premier League. Last year, Newcastle United already came into the hands of wealthy owners from Saudi Arabia and the Emir of Qatar is investigating the possibilities of taking over Manchester United.
Conte optimistic in defeat
Speaking of Spurs management, “I think some players need more faith,” Conte said after the UCL defeat. “Especially on offense. You see that we have lost faith and we have to find it again. Ultimately, it’s up to me to bring back that faith.”
What Conte was a lot more pleased with was the performance of midfielders Pape Sarr (20) and Oliver Skipp (22). The two youngsters were together in the center of midfield because Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma are injured. “They played a good game, I’m really happy with that. This kind of performance gives me certainty for the future. I know that I can count on these players 100 percent,” the Italian said.
After a less than uplifting game, it was mainly about a red card for Cristian Romero that was not given. Just after the break, he made a tough tackle on his opponent and received a yellow card for it. Ziggo Sport analyst Jan van Halst had a clear opinion on this. He added, “I really think this is a dark red card.”
Conte concluded, “He plays him a little too hard and then this is really hard income. It is also technically a wrong slide. This is really a tackle of: I’m going to get you. Just at a hundredth of a second he takes his foot off the ground so that he does not split it in half. The VAR should have intervened completely there.”
