Arsenal have confirmed the permanent signing of Japan international Takehiro Tomiyasu from Bologna on the day of the transfer deadline. So, after we reported that he’d replace Hector Bellerin if the latter made any breaking football transfers, Arsenal sign Tomiyasu.
Hector Bellerin has indeed left Arsenal for a loan deal at Real Betis (football news), like he long wished for.
Meanwhile, Arsenal were already looking for a new defender to fill the void that Bellerin would leave in their squad.
And the Gunners quickly settled on Takehiro Tomiyasu from Bologna, a center-back who can also play on the right.
Previously, last year, AC Milan were keen on signing the Japanese player but eventually, now, Arsenal have clinched him.
Breaking Football Transfers – Arsenal Sign Tomiyasu
Arsenal have agreed to pay Bologna £17 million upfront for 22-year-old Takehiro Tomiyasu, with an additional £2.5 million in add-ons.
And now, the club has even formally confirmed his football transfer on their official website.
Still, it remains to be seen what manager Mikel Arteta has in store for Tomiyasu.
Right-back has been a point of weakness for Arsenal this season, with neither Calum Chambers nor Cedric Soares really impressing.
This tells us that Tomiyasu, once he completes his move, will almost certainly see game time at Emirates Stadium.
