Casemiro bid a tearful farewell ahead of his move to Manchester United. Casemiro said: “I feel very happy and that I have accomplished my goal. After leaving São Paulo in January 2013 I said to myself that I would give my all for this club, and I’ve done that. Not only when playing at the Bernabéu or away, but also when training. I sleep well because I’ve given my all. And being able to say that makes me the happiest person in the world”.
“I felt that my cycle here was over, I love the Premier League and wanted to play in it. I needed a change. Throughout the season you can be under stress, but when the season’s over and you’re still considering these changes, it’s better to be honest. I’m thankful that they listened to me, this is a big change because of everything I’ve won and how I’ve developed at the club”.
“Those people who think that don’t know me at all. I would have left four or five years ago if it was about money. The club has always treated me very well. It’s my decision, my path. Those people who think that are wrong. That was the last thing on my mind”.
“During the last three days I’ve been talking to my wife and I told her I felt like an 18-year-old because I wanted to play in Manchester. I’d play today against Liverpool. I’m excited and a player needs that excitement. I’m going to a traditional club which has won everything throughout its history. I haven’t won anything there yet, everything I’ve won I’ve won here. I have to work hard for the wins and the titles”.
