Champions League winner Real Madrid earned the most of all clubs in European competitions last season. The Spaniards ended the elite tournament almost 134 million euros richer, fifteen million more than losing finalist Liverpool.
Big earner Real Madrid blows away competition in Europe
UEFA published the financial report for the 2021/22 season on Wednesday, showing the public how much the participants in European tournaments collected over the previous financial year. View the scores of the Dutch teams below.
So Real Madrid deserved the best. The club, like any other participant, received 15.6 million in starting premium, but then made the difference with the highest coefficient premium (36.384 million) and the performances in the group stage and knockout stage. In total, Real Madrid took 67.785 million through premiums.
The difference between the earnings in the Champions League and the other two UEFA competitions becomes more than clear from this list. Champions League champion Real Madrid therefore received almost 134 million from UEFA, while the winners of the Europa League (Eintracht Frankfurt) and the Conference League (AS Roma) had to make do with ‘only’ 38.019 million and 19.168 million.

Touré looks back on his impressive career
Speaking of Real Madrid, Yaya Touré looked ahead to the Clásico between his old club Barcelona and Real Madrid in an extensive interview with Marca on Wednesday. The 39-year-old Ivorian also looks back on his impressive career and shares his plans for the future.
“Anything can happen, but Barcelona has the advantage,” Touré refers to the 0-1 victory of the Catalans in the first leg in Madrid. “It will be an intense game, no one knows which way it will go. But I hope Barça make it to the final because I am still like a Barcelona supporter,” said the former midfielder, who played at Camp Nou from 2007 to 2010.
Touré was also asked by the daily which player has made the most impression on him during his time in Spain. He didn’t have to think long about that. “For me, Andrés Iniesta was a phenomenon. To train with him every day was a privilege because I learned a lot from him. He was physically a completely different player to me, with incredible talent,” Touré said.
“The way he thought about the game impressed me, that’s very important. He could sense a match and read it perfectly. In addition, he never lost a ball, neither in training nor in matches. He had his own way of concentrating. Every training was at an incredible level with him. I learned an enormous amount from him. Also from Xavi by the way. They were by my side in midfield and I still use them as an example in England,” said the Ivorian.
