Club Brugge 2-2 Sporting Charleroi: Club Brugge has not been able to win for the seventh league match in a row. The Belgian top club had its first victory against Charleroi on Sunday under the leadership of Scott Parker, but was unable to complete the comeback after a dramatic start (2-2).
The Belgian national title went to Club Brugge for the last three years, but this season it does not want to go smoothly. Due to the poor results, Carl Hoefkens had to leave the field. With Scott Parker on the bench, things are not going any better for the time being. Under the English coach, Club only collected two points in three games.
The start against Charleroi was also unpromising. After fifteen minutes, Youssouf Badji, who is hired by the visitors from Club, scored the opening goal (0-1). Brandon Mechele subconsciously added a little extra a few minutes later. Just like last week against Anderlecht, the defender scored an own goal (0-2).
Just before halftime, Noa Lang, who started in the base just like Bjorn Meijer, scored the tying goal. The Orange-international decorated a penalty and shot through the hands of goalkeeper Hervé Koffi (1-2). That turned out to be the prelude to Club’s resurrection, as substitute Andreas Skov Olsen scored the equalizer just after the break (2-2).
After a red card from Mehdi Boukamir (coarse charge on Skov Olsen), Charleroi seemed ready for the slaughter, but Club was unable to squeeze out the winning goal in the final phase. Club remains fourth in the Pro League, but has to fear for AA Gent. The number five is two points behind, but still has a game credit.
Antwerp 4-1 Standard Liège
In the other Pro League fixture, Janssen was given a starting place by Van Bommel. Vincent Janssen scored twice and is now shared at the top of the Belgian top scorers ranking. He scored his first goal of the afternoon in the eighth minute. On a pass from Jelle Bataille, he headed against the grain. The flag went up for offside, but the VAR soon saw that was not the case. Janssen was thus able to celebrate his thirteenth league goal of this season.
The 2-0 also got a Dutch touch. With a razor-sharp counter, Ekkelenkamp combined with Arbnor Muja and he doubled the margin. Antwerp had the game under control and also seemed to be 3-0 after an effective shot from Richie De Laet. However, his goal was disallowed due to an alleged foul by Michel-Ange Balikwisha, when there was no such thing.
