Croatian right-back Sime Vrsaljko continues life as an agent. At the age of 31, he definitively puts an end to his playing career.
Vrsaljko is tired of injuries and makes a career switch at the age of 31
The reason for his decision is the many injuries he had during his career. He said goodbye to Croatia as an international last summer. The right back came to 51 international matches for his country. He experienced his peak in 2018 when he won the silver medal at the World Cup in Russia.
The laundry list of injuries that Vrsaljko has had in recent years ranges from knee injuries to ankle injuries. Most recently he was plagued by hamstring injuries. He was also out of action for three weeks with a head injury.
Vrsaljko had been without a club since January 1, after Olympiacos let him go on a free transfer. Before that, the defender played for Atlético Madrid, Internazionale, Sassuolo, Genoa, Dinamo Zagreb and NK Lokomotiva.
Stopped Foster signs for role in Welsh club Wrexham
Talking about retirement, Ben Foster is on the eve of a striking comeback. The 39-year-old goalkeeper returns from retirement to help lead Hollywood actor-led club Wrexham to success.
Foster announced his retirement in September. The offer from Newcastle United could not prevent the goalkeeper from putting an end to his active career, which took him to Manchester United, Watford and West Bromwich Albion, among others. The rising star as a Youtuber didn’t want to do it to his family.
It apparently still tickled the eight-time England international. Wrexham has convinced him to take up the gauntlet again. The club from Wales, which plays on the fifth level, is not completely unknown to him. In 2005 he already played Stoke City mercenary 21 games for The Red Dragons.
Foster has to help Wrexham on his way. Partly thanks to the contribution of Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenny, the club from Wales is well on its way to conquering a place in English professional football. Foster gets a part, at least until the end of the current season, in that on-camera fairy tale.
