As Atalanta prepared for their Champions League match against Manchester United tonight, the hotel’s fire alarm went off all night. Last night, the visitors to Old Trafford (football news) couldn’t sleep due to their hotel’s fire alarm ringing all night. And we are sad but compelled to ask the question – did Manchester United fans disrupt Atalanta players’ sleep on purpose?
Atalanta, the Serie A team, arrived in England on Tuesday and remained in the Manchester city overnight before the game. They were in for a night of luxurious rest at the five-star establishment of the Edwardian hotel in Manchester.
However, their plans saw a hampering when the hotel’s fire alarms went off many times throughout the night. This loud alarm robbed the squad of sleep all night long.
Did Manchester United Fans Disrupt Atalanta Players’ Sleep on Purpose?
Atalanta player Ruslan Malinovsky’s wife certainly thinks so. Finally, after hours of the alarm wailing, she took to Instagram to express her displeasure with the noise of the fire alarm.
She also implied that Atalanta fans may subject United to similar suffering when they visit Bergamo on Tuesday, November 2.
“I don’t think it was an accident,” Roksana Malinovska wrote on her Instagram story.
“Throughout the night in the hotel, the siren was turned on at full power five times. It happened just when the team arrived, and only at night!
“Do you think this is an accident? Er, no. Such a ‘warm’ welcome from the local population feels terrible in the heart. I hope that our fans will support the team in the home game, and maybe the same thing will happen suddenly in an Italian hotel.”
Both Manchester United and Atalanta will be desperate for a win, as Group F is evenly balanced after two games. The Red Devils have indeed had a shaky start to their Champions League campaign this season.
