England 7-0 North Macedonia: On Monday night, England wrapped up the international match schedule with a seven-clapper. The English dominated against North Macedonia since they had previously scored four goals against Malta in the previous European Championship qualification game.
First half
Only a few hours before to kickoff, Ukraine had defeated Malta 1-0 on the strength of a Viktor Tsygankov penalty kick to win its group stage encounter. Only three points separated the top two teams in the group at the time, although England, the group’s leader, never faced any difficulty against North Macedonia.
Due to a Harry Styles performance, England was unable to play at Wembley. But North Macedonia was no match for the last World Cup quarterfinalist at Old Trafford. Despite being dissatisfied with the way his players reacted during Manchester City’s triple celebration, national coach Gareth Southgate started Kyle Walker while Kalvin Phillips, Phil Foden, and party animal Jack Grealish were placed on the bench.
They might take part in their fellow countrymen’s game. Because things moved quickly once England was let loose. Following a move by Luke Shaw, Harry Kane entered at the far post in the 29th minute. Bukayo Saka then scored a hard goal for a 2-0 score 10 minutes later. Before the break, Marcus Rashford joined in the fun by converting a Jordan Henderson ball.
Second half
Even after a respite, North Macedonia was not able to manage it all. Early on, Saka’s class was the deciding factor. Trent Alexander-Arnold sent the ball to him, and he executed a superb left-handed stroke to score 4-0. Soon after, Saka scored his third goal. Making it quite evident that England would not err in its quest to qualify for the European Championship.
Saka and Rashford, amongst others, were pushed to the side as Southgate brought in the Man City trio. To make the score 6-0, Phillips, who hasn’t featured much this year, scored his very first goal for The Three Lions. Kane received the last chord and scored from the penalty spot for his second goal. Following the result England are six points clear on top of the group. They have just conceded a goal in the four fixtures.
