Norway 1-2 Scotland: Scotland is well on its way to the European Championship after a great comeback visiting Norway. Erling Haaland seemed to be the match winner in the Ullevaal Stadium, but after his substitution things went completely wrong.
Norway gives it away completely against Scotland after the Haaland substitution
Scotland had won their first two games in this European Championship qualifying campaign, while Norway were one point ahead of Saturday’s game. The team of national coach Stale Solbakken actually had to win, since Spain is also part of Group A.
On the side of Norway, ex-Eredivisionists Fredrik Aursnes (Feyenoord), Martin Ødegaard (Heerenveen and Vitesse) and Alexander Sørloth (FC Groningen) had a starting place and the home team had a slight advantage, but Norway only took the lead after an hour. After a foul by Ryan Porteous on Haaland, the ball hit the spot and the Manchester City striker got behind the ball himself. Haaland did not fail and with his 54th goal of the season he ensured the Norwegian lead.
In the 84th minute, Solbakken pulled Haaland aside and then things went completely wrong for Norway. After Lyndon Dykes had equalized in the 87th minute, substitute Kenny McLean made it 1-2 less than two minutes later on Van Dykes’ instructions. Thanks to the great comeback, Scotland did great business in the hunt for a European Championship ticket.
Brazil 4-1 Guinea
Brazil has booked a comfortable victory in an exhibition match against Guinea. The number three in the FIFA world ranking was a size too big for the African country due to goals from Joelinton, Rodrygo, Éder Militão and Vinícius Júnior.
Brazil makes a statement and walks over Guinea
With the Brazilians, Antony and Neymar were absent due to an injury, but with Rodrygo, Richarlison and Vinícius Júnior there was still enough quality in the front of Brazil. The opening goal came off Joelinton’s feet. An extended corner reached the near post and he fumbled the ball behind goalkeeper Ibrahim Koné.
Three minutes later, Rodrygo doubled the score. With impressive acceleration he overtook the defenders and from a difficult angle he worked hard inside. Even before the break, Guinea came back into the game when Sehrou Guirassy headed in a cross from Issiaga Sylla. But hope was gone immediately after the break.
Militão dominated the air on a spinning cross and produced the third Brazilian goal of the evening. From the penalty spot, Vinícius was responsible for the 4-1. For example, Brazil, which played completely black for the first time in history as a statement against racism, had little trouble putting Guinea aside. An exhibition game against Senegal will follow next Tuesday.
