Ex-Lyon manager Peter Bosz does not like to work for an Eredivisie club. A job as national coach appeals to him, says the 59-year-old coach at the ESPN program Good Morning Eredivisie.
The coach who was fired from Olympique Lyon exchanged Ajax for Borussia Dortmund in 2017. When asked whether a second period at the Amsterdam club seems interesting to him, Bosz prefers not to answer. “I actually think it’s an antisocial question,” he says in the talk show. “I played with Alfred Schreuder and I am more than colleagues with him, so you shouldn’t ask me that question.”
Ajax’s struggles
He sees from a distance how the current Ajax is in a difficult phase. On Saturday evening, the team from Amsterdam played a goalless draw against FC Twente at home. “Ajax must keep the peace. If you look at last season, Ajax has certainly lost quality, but what you saw against Twente was a lack of confidence,” he commented.
The trainer, who has been clubless since October, is getting enough interest from the Eredivisie. “I sometimes get calls from clubs, yes. FC Groningen and FC Utrecht called, but I knew right away that I didn’t want that,” he added.
Bosz thinks that a job as national coach suits him better, but in his own way. The former Dortmund manager suggested, “You can still succeed as a country with attacking football. In my opinion you could just play offensively 4-3-3 with the Dutch national team.”
Now that Bosz doesn’t have a club yet, he mainly watches football a lot. The trainer is happy to follow the success of Erik ten Hag, who turned Manchester red on Saturday afternoon with a great victory over the rival. He especially praises the passing of Cristiano Ronaldo and concludes, “Ronaldo has been a great player and has done wonderful things, but can’t bring that anymore.”
