Hansi Flick will soon resign as Bayern Munich’s head coach. And the German club have already replaced him- with RB Leipzig’s Julian Nagelsmann. Now, Flick discusses Bayern Munich hiring Nagelsmann as his successor.
Nagelsmann will move to Bayern from RB Leipzig in June 2021, at the end of the season. He has always desired managing the club and this is evident in his statement confirming the news.
Nagelsmann’s Words
“I will be leaving Leipzig with a heavy heart,” said the young specialist to the official website of the Leipzig club.
“Leipzig is a special club, but I am leaving. I have made it clear that I am attracted to the job at Bayern and I would like to take it if the opportunity arises,” he added, however.
“So, I would like to thank Oliver Mitzlaff and the rest of the Leipzig management for finding a solution with Bayern and making it possible for me.”
Flick Out, Nagelsmann In
Flick demanded to leave the club due to a falling out with sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic.
He might take up the job of being the head coach of the German national team. Because Joachim Low is stepping down from the post after Euro 2020, reports have consistently linked Flick to take over.
The vacancy created in his wake at Bayern has already been filled. 33-year-old Nagelsmann will step up to the post.
RB Leipzig have sold him to Bayern for a five-year contract worth a record-breaking €25 million.
And now, Flick discusses Bayern Munich hiring Nagelsmann as his successor.
Flick’s Words
On his way out soon, Hansi Flick reminisces on his journey as Bayern Manager. He also takes this opportunity to thank the club and its people.
“The last two years are unforgettable for me,” Flick said to the official website of the Bayern club.
He isn’t wrong- Bayern reached new heights in domestic and pan-European football under his reign, winning multiple titles.
“I have loved not only the emotions, the victories, the titles, but also the daily work on the field – it has been an incredible time,” he added.
“Success can only be achieved together! A coach is nothing without his team and I have been lucky enough to meet some fantastic players, coaching staff and staff here who have done an incredible job. Thank you, guys, thank you Kathleen!”
“Thanks also to President Herbert Hainer, as well as the entire management – Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic for giving me the opportunity to coach this great team,” he continued.
“The only disappointing thing is that we have not been able to celebrate our greatest successes during this time with the fans. I missed them at every game. I wish the Bayern family all the best for the future. When I say it was a great honour, it is not an empty sound.”
