RB Leipzig is engaged financially in an extremely successful transfer period. For example, the German club has already raised more than one hundred and thirty million euros this summer. The team is aiming for a place in the top three best transfer periods ever.
Leipzig is aiming for place in the top three best transfer periods ever
In recent weeks, top scorer Christopher Nkunku left for Chelsea for €60 million and Dominik Szoboszlai followed later for €70 million to Liverpool. However, the transfer violence in Leipzig is not over yet, because Manchester City is after Josko Gvardiol. The Croatian defender is said to cost more than a hundred million euros.
That would bring the total income to more than two hundred and thirty million euros. With this, RB Leipzig virtually conquers a place in the top three best transfer periods ever in terms of income. Only AS Monaco and Atlético Madrid ever did that better. The record is held by Monaco, which sold 365.35 million players in the summer of 2018/19. The sale of Kylian Mbappé for one hundred and eighty million in particular played a major role in this.
Barcelona rounds out the top three, having sold Neymar for 222 million in the middle of the 2017–18 season. Additionally in the top 10 are Borussia Dortmund, Internazionale, Ajax twice, Juventus, and Benfica.
