After Bayern Munich and German defender Niklas Sule’s contraction of coronavirus led to a mandatory isolation for five other Bundesteam players, including three Germany international players who were also from the same club – the one that won Bundesliga last time out, we bring you a sad addition to this football news – another Bayern Munich defender has COVID-19, testing positive for it just yesterday.
Defender Josip Stanisic, who is a Croatia international, is the latest Bayern Munich player to test positive for coronavirus.
After testing positive for the virus, Stanisic’s teammate Niklas Sule withdrew from Germany’s squad. He was thus in self-isolation as they faced Liechtenstein and Armenia in Group J of 2022 Qatar World Cup qualifiers.
Joshua Kimmich, Serge Gnabry, and Jamal Musiala had had close contact with Sule, with whom they share club and country. As a result of the latter’s positive report, therefore, all three also had to observe mandatory isolation.
Of these, Kimmich has publicly stated that he has not yet got either dosage of his vaccine, to Bayern’s chagrin.
Football News – Another Bayern Munich Defender Has COVID-19
Meanwhile, on the club level, with Bayern Munich’s trip to Augsburg on Friday, the Bavarian giants returned to Bundesliga play.
However, they do so without Josip Stanisic, a Bayern Munich defender, who has tested positive for coronavirus, the club confirmed.
Stanisic, who is luckily properly vaccinated, is isolating at his own home but is “fine,” according to the Bundesliga champions.
Not even a part of the infected German team, Stanisic came on as a late substitute in Croatia’s 1-0 triumph. The Croatians won marginally over Russia in a World Cup qualifying match on Sunday.
But right after this victory, Stanisic has to quarantine due to contracting the virus.
Furthermore, according to reports, another two Bayern employees have also tested positive for COVID-19.
