Former Roma director Walter Sabatini believes Jose Mourinho should have kept his fury under control following the defeat against Sassuolo. Following the game, the AS Roma trainer clashed with a player. Karsdorp, according to Italian media.
At Roma, Mourinho’s rant is the topic of the day. One player bothered Mourinho. “The team’s commitment was betrayed by a disrespectful player’s attitude. Everyone else was betrayed by him. A mistake is part of the game, but I had sixteen players on the field and I didn’t like one,” the coach stated after the game during a press conference.
Former Roma director Walter Sabatini: “I’d be really concerned. Players frequently protect one another.”
It would thus be Karsdorp, who, according to Sky Sports Italia, is highly placed in Roma’s dressing room. Sabatini, who served as Roma’s sporting director from 2011 to 2016, believes Mourinho made the wrong decision. “If I were him, I’d be really concerned. Players frequently protect one another.”
Nonetheless, Sabatini believes the players will not revolt against Mourinho. “However, they may be afraid of receiving the same therapy if another terrible outcome occurs. Following the events of Wednesday, the club and the coach will need to meet. This is a serious situation. Mourinho ensures that the player must leave immediately.”
Mourinho, according to the former Roma director, has gone too far. “I don’t think Karsdorp can go shopping in Rome in peace right now. Mourinho used strong language in his remarks. We’re discussing football. I’d like to see the game again to fully get what Mourinho meant. Mistakes are unavoidable in sports. You cannot bring up the subject of treason.”
Johan Henkes, the Karsdorp agent, expresses his displeasure to the NOS. “We are startled by Mourinho’s statements, which point to Rick, without Mourinho or AS Roma revealing Rick’s name; we want an explanation from the club regarding the trainer’s words, and how he has done it.”
