Arda Güler’s Fenerbahçe departure has been confirmed by the club. President Ali Koç confirms this in Turkish media. Koç does not say which club the eighteen-year-old top talent is going to, but there is a good chance that it will be Real Madrid.
Fenerbahçe confirms departure of top talent Güler
Several top clubs were associated with Güler and Ajax was also mentioned by foreign media. His choice now seems to have fallen on Real Madrid. “I can say one thing for sure: Arda will not stay with Fenerbahçe,” says Koç.
“I’m not in a position to give a long answer at the moment,” says Koç. Millions of Fenerbahçe fans have embraced Arda. We know how much sympathy he has in the eyes of millions of supporters. I can say with certainty that Arda will not stay with Fenerbahçe. I will provide the necessary explanation when it is clear under what conditions he will leave.’
Reportedly, Real Madrid must pay a transfer fee of 17.5 million euros. Fenerbahçe also receives bonuses and other amounts, so that it will benefit in the future if Güler does demonstrably well at Real Madrid.
Barcelona fishes in next transfer-free acquisition
Barcelona have sealed the arrival of Iñigo Martínez. The Spanish national champion does not have to pay a transfer fee for the 32-year-old defender, who ran out of his contract with Athletic Bilbao this summer.
With Martínez, who signs a contract until mid-2025, Barça is bringing in an experienced player. The left leg has played no fewer than 357 duels in La Liga and wore the shirt of the Spanish national team twenty times. After seven seasons with Real Sociedad and six seasons with Bilbao, Martínez will try his luck outside the Basque Country for the first time.
The transfer of Martínez does not come out of the blue. Leaked photos showed on Tuesday that the defender in Ciutat Esportiva posed in club clothes in front of the Barcelona logo. Martínez is Barcelona’s second (transfer-free) summer acquisition after Ilkay Gündogan. The German international recently made the switch from Manchester City to the Spanish top club.
Martínez’s Barcelona contract includes a limited transfer fee of 400 million euros. The Spanish champion reports that it will soon provide more information about the defender’s presentation.
