Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius says he was watched by “half the premier league” while he was playing for the U16 national team.
“At the time, I was playing in the U16 national team and there were a lot of scouts at the games. At 16 you could sign your first professional contract,” the keeper stated to.
Finally, he decided to transfer to Manchester City:
“I had offers from all various clubs back then, but Manchester City was out of their way to help me So I said to myself: I will take up the offer, and I will travel to England.
“At that time I was only listening to Man City and VfB ’s plans. At that moment, the arrival of investors in clubs was just beginning.
“Man City was in reality a club strongly dependent on its own youngsters. Many have made the breakthrough, the academy has been in a strong place-that’s why I eventually settled on this club.”
As such, he maintained that he would leave Anfield only if first-team football was on offer.
