After their struggles in the last seasons, new manager Niko Kovac is eager to take Monaco back to the top of Ligue 1.

The Croatian said he will have to change his strategy to Monaco on August 23, which is scheduled to open their Ligue 1 campaign against Reims:
“Each coach has his own ideology, his own football theory.
“I have participated or served with teams like Eintracht Frankfurt or Bayern Munich in the past. In Frankfurt it’s a particular type, in Munich it’s another band.
“We need to change, we have to see, we need to take an analysis of the situation or the squad, so we can pick the best strategies that we believe will support the team.”
Kovac has succeeded Robert Moreno this week as coach after Monaco ended ninth in Ligue 1 in 2019-20: “It was a surprise, it went really quickly and that’s why I’m talking mostly in English and not in French.”
