Liverpool moved a point closer to securing a first championship in the Premier League after maintaining a disappointing 0-0 draw on Everton neighbours.
The results push Liverpool 23 points away from Manchester City. When they welcome Crystal Palace to Anfield on Wednesday, the Reds will be aiming to take another major step toward a first title in 30 years.
On the other hand, Everton gets to 12th spot after stretching their winless league to four matches. They hope to pick up a much-needed victory against rock-bottom Norwich in an upcoming match.
The Reds had hoped to secure the first of two victories needed to ensure that they would be crowned champions. However, they struggled to break down a stubborn Blues defence.
Roberto Firmino and Joel Matip both lost good openings in the first half.
Then, the visitors upped the ante after the break, without Jordan Pickford being truly tested.
Meanwhile, Everton rarely challenged Liverpool. That is, until the final 10 minutes, when Tom Davies had a follow-up come back off the far post.
Everton – Liverpool (0:0):
Yellow Cards: Keane, Digne – Milner, Origi.
