Marco Rose: Erling Haaland made the move to Borussia Dortmund on 29 December 2019. The fee was reported to be in the region of €20 million, on a four-and-a-half-year contract.
The Norwegian made 66 appearances for the club, scoring 61 goals along the way. He also won the DFB-Pokal 2020–21.
On 10 May 2022, Premier League club Manchester City announced they had reached a deal to sign Haaland. The club activated his €60m (£51.2m) release clause. The transfer is expected to conclude on 1 July.
Responding to this transfer, Dortmund coach Marco Rose spoke at a conference.
“We won’t stop playing football after Erling leaves us,” said coach Marco Rose. “He decided to take his next step with City and we wish him all the best.
“He gave us goals, energy, he is a player who always wants to win. I think he still can improve. He is still young.”
“We will meet again. I hope we will meet again,” Rose said.
“There are still things at stake in the league. It’s still about positions,” he said.
“It is our last game of the season and it is at home and we want to win it. Players and officials will bid farewell but I expect from everyone a good and focused performance,” he said.
“We want to give it all, get the three points and play a good game.”
