Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola believes Xavi Hernandez is ready to lead Barcelona as their newest head coach.
After Dutch manager Ronald Koeman’s dismissal made for shocking football news, rumours of football transfers link Xavi to the job.
Former Barcelona midfielder Xavi has seen associations with the job at Camp Nou, and rightly so, according to Pep Guardiola.
Guardiola has no doubts that Xavi is ready to take over as Barcelona manager, should the Catalan club approach him.
Pep Guardiola Believes Xavi Hernandez Is Ready to Lead Barcelona
Xavi, who manages Al Sadd in the Qatar Stars League, may just return to Camp Nou in the near future.
And Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola believes the 41-year-old has the credentials to thrive at his old club.
At the same time, Pep has also empathized with another former teammate, Ronald Koeman, who is leaving the club.
Speaking ahead of City’s Premier League showdown with Crystal Palace on Saturday, he said at a press conference: “I don’t know what’s going to happen.
“In case [Xavi is appointed Barcelona head coach], I don’t have any doubts he’s ready to do the job. He knows the game, he has passion and I’m pretty sure he has more experience now than I had when I took over.
“Ronald and myself know exactly that we depend [on] and we live [for] and we expect and we are there for the results. Nobody can survive without results – no Koeman, no Pep – we are judged for the results.”
Crystal Palace will visit City to the Etihad Stadium as part of the 10th round of the English Premier League. And it will be Pep Guardiola’s 200th Premier League game as the Manchester City manager. He himself took over from Manuel Pellegrini in July 2016.
The Citizens, who are the defending English champions, are currently placing third on the league table after Chelsea and Liverpool.
