Premier League Football News – Reds Beat United in Their Own Home
Jurgen Klopp’s men survived an early scare when Bruno Fernandes lashed wildly off-target.
But Liverpool then made the perfect start by taking a 2-0 lead within thirteen minutes of the match’s commencement.
Naby Keita scored the first goal for Liverpool, passing into the back of the net after Salah set him up.
This was 5 minutes into the game, and at 13 minutes, Diogo Jota slid in at the back post. His strike converted Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross.
As hopeless as United’s defending was, they still posed a threat going forward.
Manchester United’s best chance came from Mason Greenwood’s shot on goal, but Alisson was on hand to deny this effort.
Unfortunately for the Reds, Salah added a third and fourth goal, and that too early, before the break.
United criminally left acres of space for Keita to shoot a front post cross. He saw his shot tidily finding Salah, who shot it into the bottom corner from inside the area.
Just 5 minutes into the second half, Mo Salah completed a hat-trick clipping over de Gea from inside the box. His hat-trick meant that Liverpool made it 0-5 away over United.
To add to United’s misery, Cristiano Ronaldo scored a consolation goal only for it to be ruled out for offside.
Then substitute Paul Pogba, who entered the pitch in the 46th minute, received a straight red card. This red card was an upgrade from a yellow after VAR intervention.
Pogba horrifically challenged Keita and this challenge resulted in the midfielder being stretchered off.
De Gea superbly prevented Alexander-Arnold from adding a sixth. Meanwhile, Edinson Cavani summed up United’s unlucky afternoon by somehow hitting the bar from inches out and failing to score.
The final whistle thus recorded Liverpool’s victory over an outnumbered Manchester United.
