Paul Pogba leaves nothing to chance. The thirty-year-old midfielder is determined to start the new season fit and appeared a week earlier than his teammates at Continassa, the training complex of Juventus.
Pogba is after 161 minutes for revenge: early return to Juve
After six seasons at Manchester United, Pogba returned to Juve full of expectations last season. However, his second period at De Oude Dame was marked by persistent injuries. Knee and hamstring problems, among other things, meant that he was on the field for just 161 minutes in all competitions last season.
To finally deal with his physical problems, Pogba continued training in Miami this summer. The routine doesn’t stop there. Juve’s players are expected back at the club on Monday, but Pogba had other plans. Images on social media show how the midfielder is put to work. “I’m ready,” the caption reads.
Tour in the USA
That leads to positive comments from the Juve fans, but also skepticism. Supporters fear that Pogba is taking too much hay and starting the new season tired. And Pogba? He puts a smile on his face and continues stoically. The Frenchman will return to the United States later this month, as Juventus are going on tour in the USA.
Piqué responds to presidency and would ignore Saudi Arabia
Speaking of former Manchester United players, Gerard Piqué has once again made himself heard. In an interview with the podcast El Largero, the 36-year-old Barça legend looks back on his departure, among other things.
In November, Piqué retired as a footballer halfway through the season. “On the day I left, we decided that everything had to change. The club owes me nothing,” he revealed.
“The economic situation is worrying, it is not at its best, but we are in good hands,” Piqué considered the current financial situation of Barcelona, which recently secured the arrival of the transfer-free Ilkay Gündogan (Manchester City) and Inigo Martinez (Athletic Club). “The chairman and the board had to escape from a similar situation before. Become president? At the moment that is far away.” For the clubman himself, the presidency at Barcelona is not yet an issue.
The former defender was also asked if he, like many colleagues, would like a switch to Saudi Arabia. He added, “They didn’t give me a call from Arabia and I wouldn’t have gone. I always said that Barça was the club of my life and that I would retire there.”
