Watford were actually the ones to open the scoring last night via Emmanuel Dennis very early on, at 4 minutes.
However, in response to this early blow, West Ham replied with four goals of their own throughout the match. Tomas Soucek first equalized the score with a first-time drive, in the 27th minute, after Jarrod Bowen’s assist. Only two minutes later, Said Benrahma put the visitors ahead with Michail Antonio’s help. Then, when Daniel Bachmann fouled Bowen, the Hammers found their third goal via a Mark Noble penalty. And finally, substitute Nikola Vlasic rounded up the final score to a triumphant 1-4 for West Ham.
What Did the Managers Say?
West Ham head coach David Moyes has appreciated his whole team for finally returning to their winning ways, especially Jarrod
“I thought Jarrod played very well today, his assists were important and his link up play was as well today and a good combination with Vladimir [Coufal],” Moyes said.
“Him making the goals is a sign of his maturity and getting better with his last pass and decision.”
“We have had a great year, we really have. We have had a lot of wins this year. We are back challenging which was not the situation maybe even two years ago. To be talked about in the top four or Europe this year is a big turnaround,” Moyes added.
Watford head coach Claudio Ranieri also commented on the match performance.
“We score goals but it is important to maintain the clean sheet. We have to play better or help each other much better,” Ranieri, whose team were hit hard by COVID in the past fortnight, said.
“The COVID situation is not an excuse but when you have had just one training session together it is not easy to prepare. I hope this week nothing happens and we can train every day,” he added.
