Sergio Ramos: Spanish defender Ramos has undoubtedly been one of the if not the best defender of his generation. After making over 450 appearances for Real Madrid with whom he has won countless accolades, Ramos left the Spanish capital last summer.
Having been with Los Blancos since 2005, the defender had an injury ridden season in 2020-21. As a result, he was denied a two year contract that he had demanded. However, he later revealed that he accepted a one-year contract renewal with a salary reduction. But the offer had expired without his knowledge.
Sergio joined PSG in the previous summer window on a free. Things, however, have not worked for him in the French capital as his injury crisis has continued. The Spaniard is yet to make an appearance in the Champions League and has competed in just six Ligue 1 fixtures.
Sergio Ramos: “I’d like to play for another four to five years at a high level”
The former Real Madrid man in a recent interview with Amazon Prime has revealed his desire to continue playing for a few more years.
“I’d like to play for another four to five years at a high level, and then experience something else. I have two years here in Paris, we’ll try to make that three! One more, and then we’ll see. But as long as the body holds up, I think I can keep my head well focused,” said Ramos.
The 36 year old was asked if he preferred playing club football or international football.
“It’s a difficult question to answer. The feeling you have for your homeland is always a big thing. You feel you owe something to your [club] team, you have to play well to then be able to play for the national team,” he replied.
“Both are special feelings, but I can’t pick one over the other, although with the national team you can aspire to be world champion.”
