Ex-Manchester United Star Mikael Silvestre has revealed how close he was to move from Inter to Liverpool in the early stages of his career, stating that he was personally called by Gerard Houllier.
“Gerard Houllier was my youth coach in France, so we knew each other well, and he asked me if I wanted to join Liverpool,” Silvestre said to FourFourTwo. “He said that he wanted me to play left-back for them, and that while the tournament was going to be there, I was in a better position to start most games.”
“Marcello Lippi arrived at Inter and recruited another wing-back, Grigoris Georgatos, who was a bit older than me. My game time was going to decrease and I wanted to play,” he said about being at Inter at that time.
