Youri Tielemans will continue his career at Aston Villa. The number seven in England announces that it has reached an agreement with the Belgian about a collaboration.
Tielemans remains active in the Premier League
Tielemans (26) is thus retained for the Premier League. The midfielder has played for Leicester City for the past four seasons, with which he was relegated in the past football year. Tielemans’ contract at the King Power Stadium expired and so he was able to transfer to a new club on a free transfer.
Borussia Dortmund and AS Roma were interested, but Tielemans has chosen to stay in England. Aston Villa reports that it will make the deal official on July 1, when Tielemans’ contract with Leicester expires. Then it will also be known for how many years the midfielder signs in Birmingham.
Tielemans has already played 151 games in the Premier League for Leicester, 31 of which were in the past season. He has scored 21 times in the English league so far.
Besiktas gives Dele Alli a big kick after a failed rental transfer
Speaking of Premier League midfielders, Dele Alli played on a rental basis for Besiktas last season, but did not bring what the club expected. Besiktas says this in strong language through Ahmet Nur Cebi.
Alli (27) hoped to play more at Besiktas. But only played thirteen games in the Süper Lig, in which he scored twice. “Our contract with Alli is over,” Cebi tells beIN Sports. “We were very much looking forward to his arrival, but he will not return. We didn’t get what we expected from him.”
Sporting director Ceyhun Kazanci is also not satisfied with what Alli Besiktas has brought. “The expectations of the fans were very high, especially when you think of a player like Dele Alli who was once worth €100 million. Then people expect a lot of goals and assists, but that is not easy, because the Turkish league is difficult,” he tells The Guardian.
“The longer it took him to score or contribute, the more the pressure became. The fans started to whistle at him and his reaction was not what we expected. We expected him to give more of his best for the team. The trainer has chosen players who will also play for us next season. Perhaps Alli no longer wanted to fight for the shirt,” continues Kazanci.
Alli made the transfer from Tottenham Hotspur to Everton in January 2022 on a free transfer, because he was less and less involved in London. His contract with Everton runs for one more season, but it is expected that he will no longer have a future at The Toffees.
