Zlatan Ibrahimovic criticises Kylian Mbappe has done nothing to convince him to stay with Paris Saint-Germain. It stifles his growth.
Mbappe finally chose a longer stay at PSG over a move to Real Madrid, who had long been his preferred destination. Ibrahimovic expressed his reservations over the decision.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic criticises Kylian for lack of discipline
“I don’t know him personally, but he’s a tremendous player. However, when you lose your discipline, you lose your identity,”Canal+ quoted the Swede as saying. In his opinion, the French attacker faces a threat. “Zidane is Zidane for a reason. Is Mbappe trying to be like him? Then he must want to grow and not be content.”
According to Ibrahimovic, Mbappe’s decision to join PSG has put him in a tough situation. He made the correct decision for PSG, but not for himself. He’s gotten to the point where he’s more important than the club. And the keys were given to him by the club. ‘However, you are never bigger than a club.’
Ibrahimovic also criticises Mbappe’s surroundings. “His parents are lawyers, agents, and coaches. Something leads to something else. That is a problem. Then you lose self-control and yourself,” the Swede explained. “Today’s parents believe they are celebrities because of the new generation. They communicate with newspapers. But who do they imagine themselves to be? Stop talking. It is up to the kid, the player, to demonstrate it.”
In an interview with Canal Plus, Zlatan Ibrahimovic praised Erling Haaland. The Swedish forward believes the Norwegian striker has a bright future if Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola does not stymie his progress.
“I like Haaland a lot and think he’s a very smart player. You’ll never see him do anything he’s not capable of. He never lowers himself to retrieve the ball, for example. Haaland stands in front of the goal and finishes everything there,” Ibrahimovic explained.
In 2009/10, the eccentric Swede played for the Spanish coach at Barcelona, but the two did not get along. Ibrahimovic joined AC Milan in the summer of 2010.
Still, the striker doubts if Guardiola is the right man to help him improve. “That will be determined by Guardiola’s ego and his willingness to make Haaland larger than him. He wouldn’t allow that to happen in my instance, or in several others.”
